It is the most famous white wine variety. And the king variety of the great dry white wines of Burgundy which it has made famous, with the grands crus that are Montrachet, Corton Charlemagne, and the great wines of Chablis. In Champagne, it is usually blended with Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, or other native grape varieties. And it is the exclusive component of "Blanc de blancs" champagnes. It is present in the white wines of the Jura and in Savoy, in Languedoc-Roussillon, in the dry white wines of Limoux. As well as in California, Australia and New Zealand. In short, it is one of the most cultivated grape varieties in the world!

It produces a very wide range of white wine styles.
Light, tender, supple and fruity with notes of fresh fruit, honey and vanilla in Mâconnais and Côte Chalonnaise.
It is rich, elegant, ample, fruity, and mineral, with very complex aromatic notes and an exceptional length in the Côte de Beaune mouth.
In the great appellations of the Côte de Beaune, it develops extraordinary finesse and can age wonderfully well.

In Chablis, it gives more tense, fresh and mineral wines, with notes citrus fruit, green apple, flint or acacia. The Chablis Premier Cru and Chablis Grand Cru appellations develop fine and subtle aromas of flowers, dried fruits and honey.
