It is said to be the most Burgundian of Bordeaux grape varieties.

This variety is predominant in the wines of Médoc in Bordeaux, and mainly in Libournais in Pomerol and Saint-Emilion.
It is also present in Sud-Ouest and Languedoc.

Aromas
Young wines: Red fruits or black (blackcurrant, blackberry), caramel, coffee, liquorice
Old wines: mushroom, truffle, leather, prune

It goes perfectly with grilled red meats, game animals and feathered game.
