Domaine Tempier, La Tourtine, Bandol, 2014

La Tourtine combines power and elegance. This parcel cuvée is made from the selection of a terroir exceptional 5.5 hectares, on a high slope near the village of Castellet, where the vines are exposed to both sun and wind.

Tasting

The color is dark ruby. The nose, discreet, has elegant notes of minerality, very ripe black fruits, and garrigue. The palate is very dense, with already melted tannins, and finishes very refined.

Location

Very close to the village of Castellet, on a slope favorable to Mourvèdre facing full south, this terroir is characterized by being extremely windy but also very sunny. Here, the vines reach maturity easily. The deep soils are composed of sandstone and marls dating from the Santonian (85-90 Ma), with a strong presence of clay and a bit of gypsum. The excellence of this 5.5-hectare terroir makes up the parcel cuvée La Tourtine.
