Tasting
“I love the precise balance between the southern maturity and a touch of northern freshness. Lots of aromas of well-ripened red fruits and remarkably fine tannins for this appellation make it stand out. Long, complex, and spicy finish. A cuvée of Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Syrah. From grapes grown biodynamically and certified Demeter. To be enjoyed or kept.” (James Suckling 2023)
Aromas : Powerful and intense, black fruits (blackberries, blueberries) and spices (licorice)
Palate : Fleshy and generous, moderately structured, silky tannins, nice length, fruity finish with scents of garrigue
Food and wine pairings
Braised lamb with sage, Bouillabaisse, Herb-crusted rack of lamb, French cuisine, Soft cheese, Grilled duck breast, Lamb navarin, Stew, Chicken liver salad with raspberry vinegar, Game pie, Niçoise tripe, Red mullet with olives.

Age of the Vines:
The Vineyard
Like the 'climats' in Burgundy, our different plots offer us a mosaic of different terroirs and exposures.
Our working principles are simple and complex at the same time.
To preserve and respect the life and balance of our terroirs and our vines as much as possible, we work in biodynamics, a cultivation method that requires a lot of observation and specific care.
History of the Estate
Family estate of 3 generations with Italian origins located in the heart of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation.
My grandfather Francis Usseglio came from Italy in 1931 where he settled in Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
In 1948 he took a farm with its vines on the land known as Piet Long and produced his first wine in 1949.
Finally, it was in 1962 that he planted his first plot of vines in his own name at Terres Blanches.
In 1963, my father Raymond, accompanied by my mother Danielle, took over and created Domaine Usseglio Raymond.
Since 1999, at just 22 years old, it is now my turn to cultivate and manage the vineyard of Domaine Usseglio Raymond & Fils.
Our work
We are producers of white and red wines from certified organic (ECOCERT) and biodynamic agriculture because it is essential for us to preserve and respect the life and balance of our terroirs and our vines as much as possible.
We strive to obtain the best quality grapes in order to intervene as little and as well as possible during vinification and aging.
We offer a wide and diverse range of cuvées crafted with care in pure respect for the grape varieties and the terroirs. Complex and elegant wines combining aromatic power and finesse.
