About the 2006 vintage at the Leflaive estate:

    Vintage 2006 Puligny-Montrachet & Mâcon

    Puligny-Montrachet 2006
The winter of 2005-2006 starts early, is cold, and lasts a long time!
The first frosts arrive in mid-November, and apart from a few days in early December and mid-February, they are systematic until March 19.
The temperature drops to -15° on December 30.
The period is marked by frequent snow showers, but without covering the ground for long, nor with heavy thicknesses. Winter thus remains in a state of water deficit.

The month of March is humid: 136 mm in total. April is mixed.
May is cool but disturbed with storms, which poses significant risks of downy mildew.
We must wait until June 8 to benefit from the heat and sunshine favorable to the vine's flowering. Then, a beautiful summer period settles in until July 31. Thanks to this, flowering ends at a record pace, and fruit set is achieved early. The grapes grow quickly, and the closure of the bunches is ensured around July 10-12.
August, on the other hand, is humid and cold.

September, for its part, is wonderful in sunshine, brightness, and fully justifies its reputation as the month of quality. The weather remains dry, with very beautiful days at good temperatures, favorable for excellent grape maturation.
The botrytis outbreaks that had begun to develop in August are stabilized.
The harvest takes place from September 20 to 27.
The chardonnays, well-ripened, ready to quickly tip into overripeness, must be closely monitored and harvested in the right order.

The balance of the musts is very good, and the fermentations are proceeding well.
The first tastings reveal wines with a lot of aromas with scents of fine and ripe fruits.

The aging takes place without problems, the first racking occurs after 11 to 12 months, and bottling is planned for the end of winter/beginning of spring, as usual.

The wines are in line with what was expected, that is to say fine, elegant, of good maturity, characteristic of their respective terroirs, typically Burgundian.

You will be able to appreciate them at the earliest:
    Bourgogne Blanc from 2008
    Puligny-Montrachet from 2009
    Premiers Crus from 2010
    Grands Crus from 2012
    Montrachet from 2015

    Mâcon-Verzé 2006
The 2006 vintage corresponds to the harvest of the third and final year of conversion to biodynamics.
The winter is quite mild, the start of vegetation normally occurs in early April.
The beginning of summer is very hot (mid-June, July), the flowering is good. On the other hand, the
The month of August is rainy and cold.
Fortunately, the nice weather in early September is here to bring us good ripening of the grapes.
The harvest takes place from September 24 to October 1 with mild weather.
    The harvest represents 260 barrels.

The musts are vinified in Puligny-Montrachet, in tanks made of different materials: enamelled steel, stainless steel, or cement.
The alcoholic fermentations are quite slow, the first ones finish in early November and the last ones in spring 2007.
The wine is aged for 15 months. Then it is bottled at the end of 2007. It presents a very nice balance, the minerality intensifies, and the floral notes are very fine and delicate.
