About the winemaker Joseph Colin
"Until 2016, Joseph Colin worked with his brother and sister at the Marc Colin estate. But the size of the estate (20 hectares) seems too large for him to fulfill all his desires. He leaves the family nest by mutual agreement to create his own story with a human-sized estate. He works with no less than 19 appellations over 6.5 hectares, with partly rented vines, including a large number of premier crus in Saint-Aubin, as well as in Chassagne-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet. Due to allergies, he vinifies his wines without sulfur, which allows him to shorten the aging process, but he uses it at bottling. Without dogma and belonging to no caste, he claims his status as a free winemaker. Free to work with the moon and tides, free to use organic products or not, free to harvest ripe grapes, with a single goal: to reveal each of his terroirs with strength and precision. Wonderful whites of balance with personality, pure and dense.

About the appellation
Ten kilometers south of Beaune, one discovers this small place on the Côte, a crucible of the very great white wines of Burgundy, initially with a certain surprise compared to our steep terroirs of the Côte de Nuits: a fairly flat and arid “mountain” of the former shape “Mont Rachet” (“bald mountain”) which over time has become Montrachet.
