Domaine Emmanuel Rouget, Vosne-Romanée, Burgundy, 2012, 75cl
"Emmanuel Rouget trained from 1979 with the famous Henri Jayer, his uncle. In 1985, the nephew produced his first wine, before gradually taking over the vineyards of the emblematic winemaker of Vosne-Romanée, who passed away in 2006 - including the famous Cros Parantoux. The cultivation methods are those learned from him: short pruning and reasonable yields. In the cellar, the respect for healthy grapes prevails, without excessive ripeness, in order to preserve the freshness and acidity of the pinot. Emmanuel Rouget is undoubtedly the only true heir to the Jayer style, this quest for fine, elegant, and refined wines, with intense fruitiness and whose complexity grows over time. For the past fifteen years, he has practiced longer aging on lees, without racking. The wines have gained in thickness and depth what they may have lost in spontaneity.

About the cuvée
Yields are very low. The maturities are skillfully managed to always maintain freshness in the wines. The harvest is 100% destemmed in the pure tradition of the estate, and the fermentations are slow and carried out following the cold pre-fermentation invented by Jayer. The wines of Emmanuel Rouget are always silky, fresh, and energetic. Mythical wines that a lover of great Burgundies must have tasted at least once in their life.
