Tasting

«Longitude» is the length, the pure, mineral, and straight style of these great terroirs of the Côte des Blancs where chalk is practically outcropping.

SUPERB FRESHNESS AND MINERALITY

Perfect for the aperitif, its freshness, straightness, and minerality will whet your appetite. To be enjoyed now; you can also keep it for a few years.

L’OBS – NOV. 2020 – RACHELLE LEMOINE

« A blanc de blancs from the great terroirs of the Côte des Blancs, vinified and aged on natural lees in barrels and casks during the first year. The result? Length, purity, and minerality enhanced by a very low dosage and a chalky finish to desire. »

ORIGIN OF THE CUVÉE

Historically this cuvée was known as « Blanc de Blancs » since the beginning of the 20th century.

« Longitude » is exclusively made from our Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs: Vertus, Oger, Avize, Cramant which form a line close to the 4th meridian.

Non-vintage, this cuvée contains 40% of wines from the perpetual reserve of the estate started in 2004.

BREEDING

The grapes are gently pressed and the juices very lightly settled before being directly put into barrels. The natural alcoholic fermentation (indigenous yeasts) and malolactic fermentation occur spontaneously in the Stockinger barrels and casks. The wines are aged on natural lees during the first year without filtration or fining.

The blends and bottling take place in July. The bottles are lowered into the coolness of the cellars where the second fermentation and aging on lees take place quietly for at least 2 additional years.

Each bottle is disgorged manually 6 months before marketing. The dosage is only 3g/l (extra-brut!).

IN THE HEART OF THE CÔTE DES BLANCS

The LARMANDIER-BERNIER estate is located on the terroirs of the Côte des Blancs, in the heart of the Champagne vineyard.

Since the 19th century, the LARMANDIER family has been cultivating the vine on the first and grand crus of the Côte des Blancs. The chalk is the keystone of these great terroirs.

Indeed, among the different production areas of the Champagne appellation, only the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs are on the Campanian chalk that gives the beautiful minerality of Larmandier-Bernier champagnes.

  • Grand crus: Cramant, Avize, Oger and 1er cru Vertus
  • Grapes exclusively from our 18 ha vineyard
  • ORGANIC – Biodynamic for over 20 years
  • Exceptional terroir: exposed Campanian chalk
  • More than 90% Chardonnays
  • Old vines, average age 35 years

BIODYNAMIC VITICULTURE!

Preservation of the heritage of old vines, 0% pesticides

NATURAL AGING

Indigenous yeasts and extended aging on lees in barrels and large casks for 11 months.

LITTLE INTERVENTION
