Champagne Krug Brut Vintage Blanc 2008, 75cl
Tasting
Source Domain
At first glance, Krug 2008 reveals a bright and intense golden hue. The nose is expressive, rich, and generous, with patinated aromas of honey, licorice, menthol, orange peel, and grapefruit. Lively, intense, and harmonious, with a beautiful tension on the palate, notes of quince, candied fruits and citrus, yellow kiwi, starfruit, honey, apple pie, petit beurre, orange peel, peony, and fennel, along with floral and menthol touches stand out during tasting. Finally, the Krug 2008 vintage offers length on the palate while being precise and remarkably structured.
The House believes that each Krug Vintage expresses the unique character of a particular year. A Krug Vintage brings together the most expressive wines of the same year, enhanced by aging for more than ten years in the cellar. Each Krug Vintage is different: it is the Music of the year, transposed into the Krug universe.
Krug 2008 is the story, all in elegance and intensity, of a fresh and balanced year, which our tasting committee has dubbed “Timeless Elegance.”

About the Krug house
The House was founded in 1843 by Joseph Krug, a visionary nonconformist with an uncompromising philosophy. His dream was to create the best Champagne possible each year, regardless of annual climatic variations. Joseph Krug achieved his dream by paying particular attention to the character of the vineyard, respecting the individuality of each plot and its wine, and building a vast library of reserve wines from different years.
With a traditional approach to making Champagne, he decided to go beyond the very notion of vintage in order to create, each year, the most generous expression of Champagne. Thus, he founded a House where all Champagnes would be of the same level of distinction.
Since then, six generations of the Krug family have pursued this dream, enriching the vision and expertise of the founder of the House.
THE VISION
When Joseph Krug founded the Champagne House that bears his name in 1843, driven by the belief that the true essence of Champagne is pleasure itself, his dream was to create the most generous expression of Champagne each year, regardless of annual climatic variations.
It surpasses all known limits of Champagne creation, founding a House where all Champagnes would be of the same level of distinction. In 1848, he recorded his vision in the pages of his personal cherry-colored notebook.
In principle, a good House should only produce two cuvées from blends of similar composition: Cuvée N°1: this composition should be recreated every year. If the wines are full-bodied, then lighter wines from previous years should be used... And vice versa if the wines are too light, like those from 1848. Cuvée N°2: […] As with Cuvée N°1 and depending on the circumstances.
