Champagne Jacques Selosse Lieux dits Les Carelles Le Mesnil Sur Oger Grand Cru Extra Brut 75cl
"The NV Extra-Brut Grand Cru Les Carelles boasts extraordinary power, breadth and sheer richness. Layers of butter, pastry, tropical fruit, spices and smoke literally burst from the glass as this exotic, heady Champagne struts its stuff. I imagine the Carelles might be too much for some readers, but for those seeking to get to the heart of the Selosse style; here it is. This is a dazzling showing. Disgorgement date: April 25, 2012. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2020."The Wine Advocate
Note: 98/100"A remarkable alchemy takes place in Les Carelles, one of the six isolated lieux-dits, where wines from 2003 to 2010 are blended and highlight this hyper-calcareous south slope of Mesnil sur Oger. This extraordinary Chardonnay evokes peat; empyreumatic and floral nuances perfume a slender body with a magnificent sensation of natural sweetness from the grape and saltiness from the chalk, carried by fine, salivating, and sapid bitterness." 19/20 RVF Guide 2018
Tasting
"The champagnes Jacques Selosse are famous for their purity, their straightness, and their perfectly controlled oxidative notes. Irresistible aromas of gingerbread and apple.
The pale yellow color is less oxidative than that of two other Lieux-Dits. The nose, blending linden and candied lemon zest, immediately evokes a great Burgundy from Chablis or Meursault. On the palate, the wine is fresh and mineral."
«Intense personal aromas of spices (curry), precious wood, nuanced with fresh butter and rancio, signature of a finely controlled oxidation. On the palate, one bites into a concentrate of terroir and fruit. Masterful.»

About the estate
The Jacques Selosse estate is located in the village of Avize and cultivates 7.5 hectares of vines spread over 47 plots. The majority is in the heart of the Côte des Blancs (Avize, Cramant, Oger, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger). In addition to these Chardonnay-planted vines, there are some beautiful slopes of Pinot Noir from the Montagne de Reims in Aÿ, Ambonnay, and Mareuil-sur-Aÿ. This house is now a reference in Champagne, recognized worldwide for the quality of its work in the vineyards, in the cellar, and for the result in the bottle.
