Chambolle Musigny 11st cru Les Fuées
Description of the appellation: Chambolle takes its name from the stream “Grône” which becomes bubbling after a storm. In 1878, the village added the name of its best cru, Musigny, to its own name. This A.O.C. is exclusively dedicated to red wines and covers an area of 182 hectares.
Geological profile: The Fuées parcel is located next to the Grand Cru Bonnes-Mares. The term “Fuée” refers in Burgundian to the area that a man can work in a day with a hoe. The vines grow on a stony soil composed of marls, with a fractured limestone bedrock.
Qualities of the appellation: Les Fuées is renowned for producing red wines of great finesse and elegance. The stony soil and fractured limestone contribute to the minerality and aromatic complexity of the wines. The wines from this parcel are often described as having a beautiful structure, a depth of texture, and a remarkable length on the palate. They combine richness and delicacy, offering aromas of red fruits and flowers, typical of great Burgundy wines.

Tastings:
« Les Fuées de Madame Barthod stand out for their concentration, intensity, and precision of flavors, with firm and chiseled tannins ».
"The style of this wine emphasises the finesse of Chambolle-Musigny, bringing out the elegance and the purity of fruit. But for all its polished facade, there is power to the wine as well, coming from the richness of 1999. Some dense tannins show behind the fruit." 92/100, Wine Enthusiast

Gevrey-Chambertin 11st Clos Saint-Jacques
Description of the appellation: Gevrey-Chambertin, located to the north of the Côte de Nuits, is famous for its 26 Premiers Crus and 8 Grands Crus, including Clos Saint-Jacques. This premier cru, located at the start of the Combe de Lavaux fault, is southeast-facing and rests on limestone and clay marl soils. The village is divided into two slopes by a combe, with the grands crus to the south and Clos Saint-Jacques to the north.
Geological profile: Clos Saint-Jacques is surrounded by a wall, typical of Burgundian “clos”. The upper part of the parcel is composed of marls, adding muscle to the wine, while the limestone in the middle adds finesse. The clay accumulated at the bottom gives body to the wine. This geological triptych is also present on Chambertin. The vineyard is oriented southeast and benefits from maximum sunlight, while its proximity to Combe Lavaux allows it to maintain a certain freshness.
Qualities of the appellation: Clos Saint-Jacques is renowned for producing powerful and fine red wines, rivaling the great crus of Gevrey-Chambertin. This wine illustrates the nobility and uniqueness of pinot noir, with a combination of power and finesse. The Rousseau estate, for example, often tastes Clos Saint-Jacques after its grand crus, a testament to its exceptional quality. The Rousseau estate owns a third of the total area of Clos. The wines from this parcel are solar, with a beautiful structure, depth of texture, and remarkable length on the palate.

Gevrey Chambertin 11st cru Les Cazetiers
Description of the appellation: The Cazetiers is one of the most renowned Premier Cru vineyards in the municipality of Gevrey-Chambertin, located in the Côte de Nuits sub-region of Burgundy. This site of 8.4 hectares, exclusively planted with Pinot Noir, is adjacent to the famous Clos Saint-Jacques. The Cazetiers is one of the highest Premier Cru sites in the municipality, reaching 370 meters in altitude.
Geological profile: The vineyard is located on a southeast-facing slope, with well-drained soils filled with small stones that aid drainage and reflect light and heat. This rocky and limestone soil offers excellent drainage, forcing the vines to work hard to find nutrients and hydration, which reduces vigor and yield. The small, high-quality berries produced yield concentrated wines.
Qualities of the appellation: The Cazetiers are rich and structured, but more accessible in their youth than those of the neighboring Clos Saint-Jacques. They are robust and quite tannic for red wines from Burgundy, with aromas of red fruits, smoke, and spices. The slightly warmer and better-drained mesoclimate allows the grapes to reach full maturity while maintaining a good balance between flavor and acidity.
